Workboat 'Barentsburg' - a new member of the scientific vessel pool in Svalbard
Trust Arcticugol in Barentsburg has acquired a cutter, similar to the workboat 'Teisten' in Ny-Ålesund. From this summer on it can be hired for scientific and explorative purposes.

The vessel is named 'Barentsburg' and is stationed in the harbour of Barentsburg in Grønfjorden. It has a aluminium hull and a platform at the stern. It is equipped with a steel anchor, 50m mooring rope, a diving ladder, a crane, a winch and a rubber boat with outboard engine. All necessary life-saving equipment is provided and for navigation 'Raymarine' equipment is used.

Operation radius: Isfjorden and adjacent waters
The workboat can be hired for short or longer periods and will be operated by a pilot from Trust Arcticugol. It has space for 9 persons and can be used in Isjorden, around Prins Karls Forland and along the coast within a radius of 200 km around Barentsburg.

Scientific equipment includes a hydrological winch, a SBE 19plusV2CTD probe, a bottom grab and a Sekka disk (30 cm diameter). There is also a fridge, a shower and toilet facilities on board.
